Classifying Living Things in Year 4

This term in science we will be learning how to classify living things into groups. We will especially be looking at animals and how these can be grouped into mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and fish as well as into vertebrates and invertebrates.  We will also study how plants can be classified into groups such as flowering and non-flowering plants and trees with deciduous and ever green leaves.

We started by looking at pictures of animals and putting them in groups. We had a lot of fun trying to work out the differences between lizards and amphibians and wondering about how why dolphins and sharks are actually different.
